This chapter talks about Minerva. Minerva is a little older then Esperanza and already has 2 kids and a husband who has left her. Her mother was a single parent, she raised Minerva by her self, it seems like Minerva is taking the tracks of her mother. Minerva feels very unlucky. After all she is a teenage single parent. Minerva loves to write poems. She’s a very good poem writer, her and Esperanza. She let's Esperanza read her poems and Esperanza let's her read hers, Minerva writes about her sadness and how she is feeling. Minerva and Esperanza seem to be close.
