In this chapter called "Those Who Don't" Esperanza talks about how people think that Mango Street is a dangerous place even though they never been or know how it feels to live there. They automatically assume that it's a horrible place to be at. Another thing that they might think would happen is that someone will attack them with shiny knives or getting lost becuase they ended up there by mistake. Although, Esperanza also mentioned that she also feels the same way when she's not with people that's Chicano like her. Because of that, she feels a little uncomfortable and out of place when she goes to a different place outside of Mango Street.
